Modern juicers fall into one of two categories, centrifugal and masticating. Centrifugal juicers have a rapidly spinning basket which works in the same way as the spin cycle on a washing machine, pushing the contents to the edges of the container and forcing the juice out through holes in the basket. Masticating juicers work at a lower speed and ‘chew’ the contents up. Research has shown that masticating juicers retain more nutritional content and have a longer shelf life.
